The 2026 Brooklyn Beach Sports Festival(BBSF) had another great turnout August 1,2026 at Coney Island. It's first event was held in 2016. That's 10 years and still going strong fostering the calisthenics community. The Lockout League, founded by Michael Fontanez, is the man that is the biggest driving force to the continuation of BBSF. The Local NYC news channels have covered the event several times. It's always great getting that BBSF energy shared in the news. Very appreciated. That support is palpable.
Historically, the BBSF at the Board Walk has mainly featured the Around the World Competition, Weighted Reps and the FreeStyle events. This year, they still had Around the World, but they(Lockout League)switched out the Weighted Reps for an event called Statics. It was well received by the athletes and the spectators. The FreeStyle and Statics are somewhat fluid. Meaning, a lot of the FreeStyle athletes, can also do Statics. However, not all Static athletes can do Freestyle. So, now there's a little something for everyone. NYC Parks and Recreation did a good job getting a big rig out there this year with multiple high bars on it, So, the FreeStyler's and the Static athletes could show out in proper form. We / PowerPortLA provided THERACK's for the Dip Portion of the Around the World Comp AND for the Winners of the 3 Events. Additionally, we provided a month supply of SF Protein to the winners of the events.
You've got to hank the volunteers too of this event. There are lots of moving parts. It requires everyone, to run a smooth and well respected event.
They're planning an even bigger event next year. We hope to see you out there!
